The Jewish Temple in Jerusalem

The first Temple in Jerusalem was built by King Solomon who reigned 970-930 BC.

"And it came to pass in the four hundred and eightieth year after the children of Israel were come out of the land of Egypt, in the fourth year of Solomon's reign over Israel, in the month Zif, which is the second month, that he began to build the house of the LORD. And the house which king Solomon built for the LORD, the length thereof was threescore cubits, and the breadth thereof twenty cubits, and the height thereof thirty cubits. And the porch before the temple of the house, twenty cubits was the length thereof, according to the breadth of the house; and ten cubits was the breadth thereof before the house. And for the house he made windows of narrow lights. And against the wall of the house he built chambers round about, against the walls of the house round about, both of the temple and of the oracle: and he made chambers round about: The nethermost chamber was five cubits broad, and the middle was six cubits broad, and the third was seven cubits broad: for without in the wall of the house he made narrowed rests round about, that the beams should not be fastened in the walls of the house. And the house, when it was in building, was built of stone made ready before it was brought thither: so that there was neither hammer nor axe nor any tool of iron heard in the house, while it was in building. The door for the middle chamber was in the right side of the house: and they went up with winding stairs into the middle chamber, and out of the middle into the third. So he built the house, and finished it; and covered the house with beams and boards of cedar. And then he built chambers against all the house, five cubits high: and they rested on the house with timber of cedar. And the word of the LORD came to Solomon, saying, Concerning this house which thou art in building, if thou wilt walk in my statutes, and execute my judgments, and keep all my commandments to walk in them; then will I perform my word with thee, which I spake unto David thy father: And I will dwell among the children of Israel, and will not forsake my people Israel. So Solomon built the house, and finished it." (1 Kings 6:1-14 KJV)

The first Temple was destroyed by the Babylonians in 586 BC, however. The Israelites began the construction of a new temple in 537 BC, which lasted until 520 BC. I can recommend reading the book of Nehemia. It is interesting. It starts like this: "And it came to pass, when I heard these words, that I sat down and wept, and mourned certain days, and fasted, and prayed before the God of heaven, And said, I beseech thee, O LORD God of heaven, the great and terrible God, that keepeth covenant and mercy for them that love him and observe his commandments: Let thine ear now be attentive, and thine eyes open, that thou mayest hear the prayer of thy servant, which I pray before thee now, day and night, for the children of Israel thy servants, and confess the sins of the children of Israel, which we have sinned against thee: both I and my father's house have sinned. We have dealt very corruptly against thee, and have not kept the commandments, nor the statutes, nor the judgments, which thou commandedst thy servant Moses. Remember, I beseech thee, the word that thou commandedst thy servant Moses, saying, If ye transgress, I will scatter you abroad among the nations: But if ye turn unto me, and keep my commandments, and do them; though there were of you cast out unto the uttermost part of the heaven, yet will I gather them from thence, and will bring them unto the place that I have chosen to set my name there. Now these are thy servants and thy people, whom thou hast redeemed by thy great power, and by thy strong hand. O Lord, I beseech thee, let now thine ear be attentive to the prayer of thy servant, and to the prayer of thy servants, who desire to fear thy name: and prosper, I pray thee, thy servant this day, and grant him mercy in the sight of this man. For I was the king's cupbearer." (Nehemiah 1:4-11 KJV)

The LORD had mercy. Later Nehemia said:

"Then said I unto them, Ye see the distress that we are in, how Jerusalem lieth waste, and the gates thereof are burned with fire: come, and let us build up the wall of Jerusalem, that we be no more a reproach. Then I told them of the hand of my God which was good upon me; as also the king's words that he had spoken unto me. And they said, Let us rise up and build. So they strengthened their hands for this good work. But when Sanballat the Horonite, and Tobiah the servant, the Ammonite, and Geshem the Arabian, heard it, they laughed us to scorn, and despised us, and said, What is this thing that ye do? will ye rebel against the king? Then answered I them, and said unto them, The God of heaven, he will prosper us; therefore we his servants will arise and build: but ye have no portion, nor right, nor memorial, in Jerusalem." (Nehemiah 2:17-20 KJV)

What a great man, this Nehemia, started all this after everything was lost... when all the people were depressive. His faith must have carried him through that, and His love for God and his people. About 20 BC the Temple was renovated by Herod the Great. This second Temple was destroyed by the Romans in 70 AD, an event which "Pastor" Dave (falsely) equates with the armageddon in Revelation. He says that this event (something you have obviously not even heard of) was so impressive that the Disciples described it like this: "But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up." (2 Peter 3:10 KJV)

Of course this does not describe the fall of the Temple in 70 AD, but something still to come. Regarding the Temple, however, only the Western Wall remained, and parts of the Temple under the earth. The Western Wall is where the Jews stand and praying nowadays, also for the Third Temple to be built, since they expect the Messiah. The location is occupied, however, by the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Dome of the Rock. Whenever you see a golden dome on the Temple Mount, it is the Al-Aqsa Mosque built right on the ruins of the old Jewish Temple. When went onto the Temple Mount, the second intifada was announced shortly afterwards, while he had just tried out if the Palestinians would keep their word. They had offered to allow the Jews a free path to their holy places if they could get Jerusalem as the capital of their future state, and the Temple in Jerusalem is surely the most holy place for the Jews which they cannot give up.

Evolution Theory

Nobody could observe or do empirical experiments on evolution theory over longer periods. It is a theory, nothing more, and as good as any other theory is. But the matter with theories is that they are not reality. Reality is what is true. Put all the atoms of a human together in a bowl, and you can mix it all for decades, but there will never be human life coming from this, or any other life. Life must have been on the earth from elsewhere. It is a substance we cannot even research. Experts say life is if something moves, repruduces itself, takes up and digests food etc. But they cannot explain the spark of life that sets it all into motion. All the experts can do is describe what they see, but this does not explain there is life. In addition, the "missing link" is still missing, and it will always be, for there is no missing link.

The experts say that one species evolved from the other, because the genes are much alike. But this holds no water at all. In my view it is the case that this is rather even more proof for the Big Designer in the background. Having identical genes speaks for the same "raw material" every living being was made of, so things are basically identical, but different in details.

So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat. And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so. And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day. (Genesis 1:27-31 KJV)

I once was a big fan of evolution theory. It really thrilled me. But it took as long as I bought a Bible to prove it wrong. It was when I read Genesis that God said, "Vera, forget about evolution theory. My Word is the truth, and nothing else."

And that is it.

Jesus is LORD!
